PhD Students’ Orientation Activities: Settling-in New Cohort of Students
Welcome Briefings
Incoming Year 1 PhD students are provided with an outline of important SMU postgraduate research policies and guidelines. During these briefings, not only are the new students introduced to SMU, they also are also given the opportunity to interact with Year 1 students across all programmes. Getting to know one another better enhances their PhD learning journey.
Other Settling-in Activities
These include activities to introduce our international students to Singapore. These students also have the opportunity to join orientation activities by the SMU Office of Global Learning.
PhD Student-Faculty Interactions: Exchange of Knowledge
These events provide SMU PhD students across all the programmes and levels of study with the opportunity to take some time off their busy schedules to catch up and have a lively time together. They also meet with faculty members from the different PhD programmes, which is an enriching experience because they would come to understand the world of research better and will not hesitate to get in touch with one another when it becomes necessary.
